How It Works

Acupuncture works with the body's natural communication systems, supporting circulation, nervous system regulation, muscle release, digestion, and whole-body balance. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each treatment is guided by the movement of qi, blood, yin, and yang, with every point chosen to support the full picture of what you are experiencing.

For stress and anxiety, needles placed at specific points interrupt the stress response in real time. Most people feel it within the first few minutes — a softening through the chest, a deepening of the breath, a kind of physical permission to stop holding on. Over a series of treatments, the nervous system learns to access that state more easily. The changes tend to be quiet and cumulative: a lower baseline of tension, a slightly longer fuse, a nervous system that's less quick to tip.

Your Practitioners

Every acupuncture session is guided by whole-body diagnosis, not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Our licensed acupuncturists often support patients through stress, pain, digestion, sleep, cycle health, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and the slower work of nervous system repair.

Dr. Shelby Ramirez (DACM), Dr. Adrienne Nash (DACM), and Dr. Frederica Crafts (DACM) bring clinical depth, careful listening, and an unhurried presence to each room.

Common Questions

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients find acupuncture gentle and deeply relaxing. You may feel a light sensation at certain points, but treatments are designed to help the body soften, not tense.

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing is best. Your practitioner may need access to areas like the arms, legs, abdomen, back, or shoulders depending on the treatment.

How often should I come in?

It depends on what you are working on. Acute symptoms may benefit from weekly care, while general wellness often works well with monthly treatments.

Can I receive acupuncture while pregnant?

Yes, acupuncture can be used safely during pregnancy when provided by a trained practitioner. We see patients through every trimester for nausea, back pain, sleep, pelvic tension, and postpartum recovery. We tailor each treatment to your stage of pregnancy and your specific needs.

Can acupuncture help with stress and anxiety?

Yes. In TCM, chronic stress is often a pattern of qi stagnation — the body's energy unable to move as it's designed to. Over time, this depletes the nervous system's ability to restore itself. Acupuncture interrupts the stress response directly. The most common thing we hear after a first session for anxiety is: I didn't know I could feel that calm. The second most common, around session four or five: I'm not sure what's different, but something is.
