Holistic Microneedling: Why We Start With Acupuncture

Microneedling on its own is a skin treatment. Microneedling that starts with acupuncture is something different. Before any needle touches the face in our holistic microneedling sessions, you receive a full-body acupuncture treatment first. This isn't incidental — it's the whole point of calling it holistic.

Why it matters to start with acupuncture

The skin doesn't exist in isolation. It reflects circulation, hydration, stress patterns, and the state of the internal organs that Traditional Chinese Medicine associates with skin health — particularly the Lung, which governs the skin's surface and the body's outer boundary, and the Kidney, which governs the deep moisture and structural resilience that determines how skin holds up over time. This organ-to-surface relationship is documented throughout classical TCM literature and is foundational to the way we approach skin in the clinic. When we do acupuncture before microneedling, we're supporting circulation to the skin from the inside — improving the environment that the microneedling treatment is trying to work with. The result is skin that's more responsive to the stimulation, better able to produce collagen, and calmer in recovery. The two modalities compound each other in a way that neither can fully replicate alone.

What the session includes

A holistic microneedling session at Mount Sunny is 75 minutes: Full-body acupuncture. Points that support Lung qi, tonify Yin, and encourage systemic circulation — tailored to what your pattern needs that day. Skin prep. Cleansing, steam, and numbing cream while the body needles rest and the skin settles. Microneedling. We use precise, controlled depth to stimulate collagen and cellular turnover. Good for fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, uneven texture, and loss of firmness. Red light therapy. Celluma Light Therapy follows the microneedling to support cellular repair and reduce inflammation. Aftercare kit. Every session includes an exclusive AnteAGE Bone Marrow and Cytokine aftercare kit — one of the most advanced regenerative skincare formulations available. Post-session: avoid exercise and skincare products for the first 24 hours. Protect the skin from sun exposure for 7 days. Most people look a little flushed for a day and then clearer for the next week.

Who it's for

Holistic microneedling is suitable for all skin types and tones. Unlike some laser treatments, it doesn't carry the same risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We ask that you wait 2 weeks after Botox before booking, and consult with us beforehand if you have active fillers. It's for people who want:
  • Real, measurable skin improvement without the downtime of ablative treatments
  • A treatment that works with the body, not just on the surface of it
  • The added nervous system benefit of beginning with acupuncture

How many sessions

Microneedling results are cumulative. A series of 4–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typical for meaningful, lasting change. Many patients start with one to assess their skin's response, then commit to a series. Between sessions, the Osmotic Nano Infusion Facial is designed to maintain momentum — a gentler, no-downtime complement to the deeper work of microneedling.
