How It Works

Massage supports muscle release, circulation, and relaxation through intentional pressure, technique, and therapeutic touch. Our practitioners tailor each session to your body's specific needs, blending modalities based on what is most supportive that day.

Abhyanga is a warm oil bodywork practice rooted in Ayurvedic tradition, often used to support grounding, nourishment, and the nervous system. The warmth and rhythmic quality of abhyanga activates the parasympathetic nervous system in a way that even deep tissue massage doesn't — it's less about releasing tension and more about restoring a baseline the body has been missing.

For those in the prenatal or postpartum period, both massage and abhyanga offer specific nourishing support — for the physical demands of pregnancy, postpartum recovery, blood nourishment, and the nervous system as the body recalibrates. Pregnancy is one of the most physically demanding things a body does. And one of the most under-supported.

Your Practitioners

Our massage therapist Connie Bernal (LMT) brings a grounded, intuitive presence to every session. Trained in Swedish, deep tissue, prenatal, lymphatic drainage, and Ayurvedic bodywork, she tailors each treatment to what the body is asking for that day.

Massage and abhyanga are often chosen for tension release, circulation, grounding, pregnancy and postpartum support, and nervous system rest. Every session at Mount Sunny begins by meeting the body where it is.

Common Questions

What is the difference between massage and abhyanga?

Massage is focused bodywork for tension and relaxation. Abhyanga is warm oil bodywork rooted in Ayurvedic tradition, often used for grounding, nourishment, and deep rest.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment. Your practitioner will guide draping and comfort during the treatment.

Is abhyanga good postpartum?

Abhyanga can be a beautiful support during postpartum when appropriate. We tailor the treatment to your timing, energy, and needs.

How will I feel after?

Many people feel calm, softened, and deeply rested. We recommend moving slowly, hydrating, and keeping the body warm after treatment.

Is massage available during pregnancy?

Yes. Prenatal massage is offered from the second trimester onward. Sessions are adapted for safety and comfort — positioning is modified, and our practitioners are trained specifically in prenatal work. Prenatal massage addresses lower back and hip tension, sciatic pain, swelling in the legs and ankles, and the deep relaxation that benefits both parent and baby. Postpartum massage and abhyanga are also available, supporting recovery, circulation, and nourishment in the weeks and months after birth.
